White Management Team:
We want to update everyone on where we are regarding our company’s response to the Coronavirus pandemic.
In recent months, we have been working to bring the company together under one management structure with a shared vision. We have worked with you to create budgets which we use as tools to measure ourselves on revenue and performance goals. And we have seen great progress in these areas.
However, the Coronavirus epidemic has forced us to significantly alter our course, and our short-term our goals. Instead of focusing on growing revenues, improving customer experience, and adding high-quality staff to our team, we are forced to focus on survival. We have had to make cuts in staff and hours to keep our restaurants sustainable. For the foreseeable future, we have revised our goals to keeping our restaurants open, to controlling operating losses, and to maintaining our valuable employees.
These are tough times for all of us, and we will get through them together. To that end, we want to share with you the ways we are committed to supporting all of you through this crisis:
Free or Discounted Meals for White Management Employees and their Families: Recently, we rolled out to all managers certificates for a FREE KFC $20 Fill-Up Meal to be redeemed at one of our four KFC restaurants in Malone, Saratoga, Queensbury, and Plattsburgh. This is available to all current and recently laid-off employees as of Sunday, April 5th. At-cost Easter Dinners from the Log Jam, the Butcher Block, and Bountiful Bread were offered this week. This will be ongoing.
Paycheck Protection Plan: The federal government rolled out a plan intended to help businesses get employees back to work. We have submitted applications through our bank to take advantage of this program so we can work towards bringing our full team back to work. We expect that in the next three weeks, we can begin bringing our teams back to pre-Coronavirus levels.
Employee Crisis Relief Fund: As soon as this pandemic began, David and Brian White diverted their paychecks, as well as select rental income, into a fund to offer relief to our employees who need it. This money is to assist those who are struggling to meet basic needs such as rent, mortgage, food, and gas. Store managers will be responsible for understanding the situations of their team members—current and those recently laid off—and will work with us to distribute necessary funds. If you are in need, speak with your manager.
In addition, KFC/Taco Bell announced a Covid-19 Restaurant Employee Medical Relief Program for any KFC/TB employee who has been diagnosed with Covid-19, or is caring for a family member in their primary residence with a Covid-19 diagnosis. This is in addition to the KFC Foundation Hardship/Crisis Fund that KFC already offers to employees. Details are available in the Employee Benefits section of the website.
Thank you for all you do for us. Nothing is more important than that we maintain our physical health, our mental health, and our financial health during these times.
Please reach out if you have thoughts or ideas you’d like to share as we work together to get to the other side of this challenge.
